On New Years Caity Matter and Bill Henniger setoff to go down the Grand Canyon on the South Kaibab Trail then back up the Bright Angel Loop trail. Normally hikers will do this over 2-3 days, but we decided to do it in one day. The trek starts with a 8 mile journey down the canyon, cross the Colorado River then 2 miles down the river and finally 8.5 Miles up the canyon. We made it to the river at noon and to the top by 5PM.
This is quite possibly the most brutal experience of my life and I am completely torn up. Caity and I are both walking with broken joints. The views were awesome and the scenery was insanely amazing.
If you ever wonder what you are training for, it is the ability to tackle any challenge layed out in front of you. You have to just chip away at things sometimes, don’t quit!
What are doing this year? If our training looks unique and effective, come in and try it out! Elements 1 kicks off every Monday, contact eddie@roguefitness.com if you are interested.
Rogue Fitness is hosting the CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting Certification run by Coach Burgener. Check out the video above to get a feel for how things will work at the cert.
Per the norm we will bust out all new equipment for the cert to include all new Burg & Rip bars and at the end of the cert the gear will be offered at a discount for those that would like to take them home.
We hope everyone one had a great Christmas and enjoyed lots of holiday treats with family and friends. If you have been away from Rogue for a while remember to get back in here as soon as possible so we can get to working off all of those holiday treats.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Mine was pretty special, I am now engaged to Caity Matter. So it is now official Bill Henniger and Caity Matter have taken that step! Look for pics from the Grand Canyon, we are celebrating by going down and up the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. I have done this once before and swore I would never do it again but here we go.
Look for great things this year as we expedite new equipment made in the USA by Rogue. We will be manufacturing Rogue Squat Stands, Pullup Systems, PlyoBoxes and Military Obstacle Courses. This is just a small cross section of what we will offer. We don’t take preorders for foreign made equipment, we build it test it then test it again, then test it more, then drop it off a building. Then we offer it in our store! Our success is based off of the ingenuity of our team, athletes and customers that give us ideas and feedback. If you have any product ideas or anything you believe we should modify, shoot me an email: bill@roguefitness.com
We are offering our Christmas specials 7Jan08 so make sure and take advantage of them. We will launch our new product line right around that time as well.
At Rogue our mission is to offer equipment made in the USA by Americans. This is very important when you look at the current state of our economy. Here is a short story:
When I worked at GM, a man named Gary Farmer worked on the shipping dock. He was a good old boy that had a beard, always had some chew in and wore coveralls. He liked to fish and tell stories and was very sharp. I was a young guy trying to make it through the ranks as quickly as possible always trying to work the system. I used to go back and talk to Gary every night because he was my life line for incoming parts. A few years back the plant outsourced a few of the operations to a different company hence we had to truck parts out of the plant and then back to the plant. Here were the issues:
1) Had to make more parts to keep the pipeline full
2) Lost the business at our plant hence our workers were unhappy
3) Lost control of the quality to an outside vendor when we had decades of experience making these parts
Well we could barely keep the pipeline full with the focus on budget and I worked second shift hence I got what the other shifts had set me up for. So one night the assembly room was shut down waiting on parts from my department and I needed to get them from the outside vendor. I begged and pleaded for Gary to break the normal lot size and get me some parts. He very candidly explained, “If you don’t feed the horse it don’t sh**”. I learned a valuable lesson that day, one of simplicity. Our management team had driven the work to a complicated web of suppliers and made it near impossible to keep the supply lines full, not to mention the quality control problems.
Over the past decade the CEO’s of large corporations have spent every waking moment trying to figure out how to outsource our manufacturing but the problem is that this cuts the supply line of funds from the workers. It also follows Gary’s first law of physics: If you don’t feed the horse it don’t sh**
I have had the opportunity to manufacture all of the above in other countries but have chosen to keep it in the US. Our rings have a lifetime guarantee against breaking!
We know that the holidays are very busy times with family, shopping, opening presents and feeding our faces (a personal favorite of Eddie’s). So we understand that it is very difficult to make it in to Rogue this time of year. Those of you who have managed to squeeze a little Rogue love into your busy schedules continue to come in and attack whatever workout the white board deems worthy of your efforts.
Be sure to check the Rogue training calendar for the holiday schedule.
